Steps to Success
Get Started!
Here are the steps to complete to fully complete your author study. You will need to manage your time wisely in order to complete this project by the deadline.

Create a list of the books, websites, journals, and other resources you will use throughout this project.

Create a Works Cited Page and log your sources as you go, so you do not forget any. (consult your MLA format guidelines for details on how to do this). Cut and paste URLs of websites you like as you go so you do not forget where information came from or which sites you want to use. (keeping them in word will allow you to reference them frequently by clicking on them)

1. Make sure you have read the entire Web Quest instructions thoroughly so you are aware of what you must do to complete the project.

2.You should create a list of questions to help you in your research.

3. Try to choose works that the author has written through his/her life if you can rather than ones written all in the same year or so.

4. Do some research on the Era in which your Author lived.

5. Research your author. The same as you listed guiding questions about the Era you researched, you should reference the questions you posed in step two and formulate questions about your author. Conduct research to find your answers.

Ex: John Keats wrote about things he valued in life, he focused on beauty and nature and the things he found most important. He wrote, beauty is truth, truth beauty/That is all ye know on Earth, and all ye need to know. Keats died very young and died a horrible painful death. He had Tuberculosis and died at the age of 26. Many scholars argue that he wrote this encouraging people to slow down their busy lives and find the beauty and truth in life and honor it because tomorrow you may not be able to.

6. Use the Library Databases to help in your research!!!

7. Chose the text(s) you want to read by your author, read them, and analyze them for literary devices and elements.

Basic questions to keep in mind when reviewing your criticisms and reviews are:

What do people have to say about the author and his/her work?
Are the reviews positive or negative, or a combination of the two?
Do any of the reviews mention anything about history or culture? If so what? What is the author trying to accomplish by publishing this review?

(you need at least two per text)
